The Friendship Hotel is nestled on the edge of the Peak District and is within easy reach of Barnsley and Sheffield. The Hotel was built in 1903 and has just undergone a major refurbishment to bring the hotel back to its former glory. Whether you are visiting the area for walking, cycling, business or pleasure you are assured of a warm welcome at our family run Hotel.
Our rooms
We have 8 double and 1 single room all of which have undergone significant refurbishment. All rooms are ensuite and our double rooms can be converted into twins on request.

A hidden gem on the edge of the peak district
The town of Stocksbridge is located on the outskirts of Sheffield, it is within easy reach of the M1, Barnsley and the Woodhead pass to Manchester. Fox Valley shopping centre is within walking distance and includes a great range of restaurants and bars.
The Friendship Pub
Praised by CAMRA for its sympathetic restoration in 2015 The Friendship is a thriving pub in the centre of Stocksbridge. It stocks a good selection of beers, cask ales and spirits and has sky sports and regular live music.
Both the main lounges have open fires and provide a warm and welcoming place to wind down after a day of exploring the area.

A Mecca for cyclists
Road bikers
Stocksbridge hosted the finish of the Tour De Yorkshire with the route passing our front door. This coupled with the 2014 Tour De France’s Grand Depart route within pedaling distance it is proving a popular area for Road Cyclists.
Mountain Bikers
Whether your into long rides in the peaks or downhills in the woods Stocksbridge offers everything a mountain biker could dream of. Wharncliffe woods and Greno woods (Steel City Downhill Race) are within peddling distance providing the perfect base for a mountain biking holiday.
‘Britains best walking neighbourhood’
Or that’s what the Ramblers association thought when Stocksbridge came second in their annual competition in 2018. If walking is your thing then Stocksbridge is a great base, there are some wonderful local walks from the doorstep or you can go a little further afield into either the south Pennines or the Peak District
